                                          Langham Tennis Club

In 2001 the Parish Council who are the freeholders of the Recreation Ground undertook a survey of the people of Langham to find out whether Tennis Courts would be used beneficially in the village. The result was not only in favour but other sports were also identified as being potentially used. Both the local schools also indicated their support for the extensive use of courts during term time.

Langham Tennis Club is a local friendly club, for residents of Langham & surrounding areas. Our main aim is to make tennis fun. New members are always welcome. You will be given your own key to the courts so you can play any or every day of the year!

Dear Member,

Your annual tennis club membership is due on 1st August 2013. The fee remains the same as previously: Family £50, Adult £30, Child £20.

Please could you renew by cheque to "Langham Tennis Club" (or cash) to Moorlands, Chapel Road, Langham, Colchester, CO4 5NY, tel 01206 272031,

By bank transfer to Langham Tennis Club's bank account. Our secretary, Sarah Ellis, has written an attachment with this email describing the details.

If you have just joined the club this summer then your subscriptions are due 1/8/14.

I hope you have been able to enjoy the courts this year - everyone trying to play like Andy Murray!

If you do not wish to maintain your subscription then please return your key to us at Moorlands as many people regularly join & need a new key - currently there are about 160 members.

Just to remind you that we are non profit making & run the tennis courts on behalf of the Parish Council. Every year the Parish Council puts £1600 into a sinking fund, & your subscriptions provide £1000 to the same fund, to ensure that the courts will always have the funds for repair, & never fall into decay. About £200 goes to the Lawn Tennis Association for insurance & other support.

Two last reminders:

Firstly, you will only be entered into the Wimbledon Ticket draw each spring if you are a member of British Tennis. It only takes a couple of minutes online. The more British Tennis members at the club, the more Wimbledon tickets we are allocated - currently 3 pairs of tickets for 30 British Tennis members of Langham Tennis Club!

Secondly, don't forget that you can book your tennis courts about a week ahead with the booking sheets that we put in the Langham Tennis Club cabinet on the side of the Community Centre each week from April to September.

So PLEASE, PLEASE pay promptly as otherwise we spend most of September contacting people again.

Stuart & Jacqueline Rudge.
